It is a salt pill...

Adderall is a name brand amphetamine salt. Adderall is ingested by swallowing a tablet which then dissolves in the STOMACH. Once Adderall is passed into the SMALL INTESTINE it enters the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM by way of the MUCOSA BRUSH MEMBRANE. SALT, WATER & POTASSIUM are required for OSMOSIS. Amphetamines cross the BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER.

The pharmacological interaction takes place within the BRAIN.

The problem here is that the action of the drug works inside the brain. We can study the electrical activity of a brain while it is still alive, but molecular absorption is a different story. So, there is controversy over most drugs for 'mental health'.

You aren't going to hear much from your DR. about the metabolic absorption unless you aren't responding to the drug. The metabolic absorption is part of a more crucial function & you would be having bigger problems if it wasn't working correctly, but may not realize if it isn't functioning 100%.

Adderall is not processed by the liver, but can affect the liver. However, you would probably be suffering from amphetamine hypertension. The liver would only be working to detoxify your blood for any number of chemical imbalances. The liver may also be prevented from producing digestive enzymes or synthesizing protein. Basically, Slow Death.
