Pharmaceutical companies, when designing a drug, obtain a patent so that no other company can manufacture the same drug. This patent typically lasts 17-20 years. After the patent has expired, any other company can manufacture the same drug. This is where generic drugs come in. They are the same active ingredient, dose, dosage form, route of administration, and are tested and shown to be bioequivalent. Thus, drugs that were once on patent can have a generic equivalent that is much less expensive to the consumer but work the same as the brand name drug.
If you can identify the components on the board, such as the chipset, onboard graphics, and LAN, you can download generic drivers from the manufacturer of these parts that should work.
It is essentially the exact same drug with a different name...hydrocodone is the generic version.
Generic prescription drugs have different colors, shapes and appearances, depending on how they are made and by what pharmaceutical company. This is the same as branded drugs that have different colors, shapes, sizes, etc. What's important isn't how they look but what ingredients are in each drug whether generic or branded. And, generic drugs have the same effective ingredient (medication) as the branded version. However, generics typically cost much less than branded, mainly because generic drug makers have much lower marketing costs associated with their medications, compared to those at branded drug makers.
The cost to make aspirin is minimal. The way drug industry work is that they spend 10- 20 billions in research and development of a new or improved drug. Then they have 20 years in which they can enjoy a monopoly ie only that company can make and sell that product. After that a generic product can be made by another company. The cost of manufacturing aspirin or generic version is miniscule. Source www.everycost.com
