The reason you don't smoke stems is because it causes your bowl, joint to burn funny, taste weird, and it pokes holes in papers. Some people will save stems and chew on them. Also take seeds out of your weed. Seeds can turn into 'hippie grenades' which are like pieces of popcorn and explode. If that happens, you can break your bowl. It happened to me on accident before.
