It is important to measure a patient before prescribing medicine because: 1) You need to know whats wrong with them ! 2) You need to see what medicine to give to them because you can get stronger doses of medicines ! 3) You need to measure out how much medicine they need to take !! 4) You need to do more complicated exams on the patient to see how they got the illness ! Many medications are prescribed based on the size of the person taking them since the amount needed with some medicines must be calculated very carefully to give an amount that is therapeutic but will not be toxic. Many prescriptions are based on milligrams of medicine per kilogram of body weight or a similar ratio. This is very critical when giving some medications to children or infants, and more precise than just basing it on age.

It is important to take the correct measure (dosage) of a medicine. Modern powerful medicines can be dangerous if too much is taken - resulting in an overdose. Always follow the instruction on the label.
