yeah it more that likely will calm them down a little but withdrawals are hard to deal with. I've gone through withdrawals from oxcycodone hcl 30 and mg methadone helped me with those withdrawals a lot and with my pain and it lasted twice as long as Oxycontin but the only thing is that methadone really messes with your head in the long run

The real answer to this question is NO. You are only substituting one opiate for another which is completely counter-productive to detoxing from methadone and opiates all together. If you take vicodin while detoxing from methadone, then you will only get addicted to vicodin and have withdrawal symptoms from that. The best thing to do for methadone withdrawal is to slow down your detox. Most people at my methadone clinic do not feel any significant withdrawal when they are being detoxed properly at 1-2 mg's a week (which is a normal detox rate). Also there are things that can aid in some of the aches and pains of withdrawal from opiates. You are going to have some side effects when you withdrawal from opiates no matter what, it is just a part of your body getting used to life without a drug it was dependent on. Taking non-narcotic muscle relaxers, so,e clonidine, and B-vitamins will really help ease the pains, anxiety, and fatigue associated with methadone withdrawal. It is important to strengthen your resolve before any opiate detox because it is not easy and normal people feel pain. Opiates have blocked that pain for so long that people addicted to them forget that and cry about the slightest uncomfortable feeling. You must be strong and be ready for some discomfort if you truly want to be rid of opiates for good.
