I was just looking to see what antibiotics I could take for a sinus infection. I read 2 articles that said that amoxicillin was appropriate, but that doctors rarely prescribe them until after a week or so of severe symptoms.
Amoxicillin is not likely to be effective.
A cold is caused by a virus - antibiotics do not kill viruses. Antibiotics are only useful with infection caused by bacteria. For a cold, you just treat the symptoms until you feel better - colds usually last seven to ten days.
how long does it take for amoxicillin to work i have catarrh in my ear have been taking them for two days
Amoxicillin and metronidazole are to be taken in combination for a sinus infection. If plain amoxicillin does not work, a formulation with clavulanic acid such as augmentin should be used with metronidazole.

Omg, I hope so. It is an antibiotic and should not interfere with your work.
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It is used to treat infections due to organisms that are susceptible to the effects of amoxicillin. Common infections that amoxicillin is used for include infections of the middle ear, throat (laryngitis), bronchi, lungs, and skin.
