Oh, absolutely. They say that if you're going to be on oxycodone for more than a month, you must speak to a doctor about how to adjust your dose, or perhaps switch to another medication. If you'll only need it for a few weeks, or for a short-ish post-op situation, there shouldn't be as much of an issue with tolerance. I have chronic pain (RSD, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis). I was treated well by about 20 mg a day (starting October 2007), but as time wore on, I've needed more and more. Recently I was switched to 60 mg a day of oxycodone -- that was about three months ago -- and just today I had to be switched to MS Contin because there's almost no end to the tolerance. I guess it's a juggling act for chronic pain sufferers -- good luck to you. :)
