It not a poem its a short story.
There was a Creek Indian by the name of Little Owl.
In Seminole (a Muskogean language very close to Creek), the word for an owl is huppa, huppe or huppee. White is hatkee, so huppa hatkee is white owl.
Honkv literally translated means owl. It is more commonly known and used to describe the Creek version of the Boogeyman. Seeing as "owl" has a negative connotation to our tribe, it has come to mean something worth fearing... Thus Honkv being the equivalent to the Boogeyman.
"The Owl and the Pussycat" was written by Edward Lear, a British poet and artist, known for his literary nonsense and whimsical verse. The poem was first published in 1871 and has since become one of his most beloved works. It tells the fantastical tale of an owl and a pussycat who embark on a journey in a beautiful pea-green boat. Lear's playful language and imaginative storytelling have captivated readers for generations.
Edward Lear wrote "The Owl and The Pussycat" for the three year old daughter of a friend, little Janet Symonds. She was ill at Christmas, and Mr. Lear wrote the poem to cheer her up. The Pussycat is based on his own beloved cat, Old Foss.
