Conscription.
In military terms, a draft is when the government makes people fight in a war. If not enough people have enlisted, the government starts drafting people. Draft can also mean a wind coming through a wall or a type of beer.
The act that requires men between the ages of 21 and 30 to register for the draft is the Military Selective Service Act. This legislation establishes the framework for the selective service system in the United States, mandating that eligible males register for potential conscription into military service. Although the draft has not been active since 1973, registration remains a legal requirement for those within the specified age group.

New Zealander artillerymen were the only volunteers in South Vietnam. Along with Americans, Australians were drafted too. It's the military draft that caused the protests...other nobody really cared...as long as THEY weren't involved. The draft makes them involved!
NO. Anyone who has worn a military uniform in service to their nation, war or peace, is a veteran.

In the US, there is no mandatory service requirement. You are, however, required to sign for the Selective Service Act when you turn 18, which makes you eligible for mandatory service, should the draft be reinstated. Some countries do have a mandatory military service requirement. See related link "Wkipedia.org - Military Service" for a listing of these countries.
They are made by both government and civilian companies that make them for the military. The exact arrangement varies from one country to another.

It makes no difference. If you have been in JROTC for 2 years (i think), then you get a rank advance no matter what branch you enlist in. If you enlist in the Army, you will leave basic training as a PFC. I am also in AFJROTC but i am either joining the army or navy.
