Pharaoh hounds and Egyptian cats
Yes. Ancient Egyptians had dogs and used them to hunt with. Drawings of these dogs have been found from that time in Egypt. They resemble today's sight hounds such as the Ibizan, and Pharaoh hounds.
sight hounds were used i.e. greyhounds Saluki, Afghan hound.
It depends on how you bring them up. If you never socialise the dog, it'll probably be aggressive towards strangers, but apart from that it should be okay.
In terms of speed, Whippets, Pharaoh Hounds, Afghan Hounds, Border Collies, Collies, German Shepherds, Salukis, Airedale Terriers, Belgian Malinois, are among some of the fastest dog breeds, in no particular order. But, in terms of trainability, I would not suggest the Afghan Hound, as it is considered to be the least intellectual of all dog breeds.
Yes, they are.
Basset hounds made ideal pets for families with children. They are gentle, tolerant and welcoming animals. Basset hounds get along well with other pets and are seldom aggressive to strangers. Basset hounds need daily walks, but children need to be careful when walking them because they are hunting dogs and if they get a whiff of a certain scent they may pull at the leash and a young child may have difficulty controlling them. Since basset hounds are low to the ground, young children may try to ride on their backs - this should be avoided at all costs. Basset hounds would make a good pet for a family with children, but be prepared for lots of drool, shedding and stubbornness!
