Hammurabi was indeed a significant leader, but he is best known for his contributions to law and governance rather than solely for military conquests. As the sixth king of the First Babylonian Dynasty, he successfully unified much of Mesopotamia through strategic military campaigns and diplomatic efforts. However, his legacy is primarily marked by the Code of Hammurabi, one of the earliest written legal codes, which established standards for justice and governance in his empire.

Before Babylon, the Sumerian civilization was the dominant cultural and political entity in Mesopotamia. The Sumerians, known for their advancements in writing, architecture, and governance, established city-states such as Ur, Uruk, and Eridu around 3500 BCE. Following the Sumerians, the Akkadian Empire, founded by Sargon of Akkad around 2334 BCE, unified much of Mesopotamia and is considered one of the first empires in history.

The Assyrian army was much better than the Babylonian Army, because they had a tactical offensive very well planned.
Much of Biblical history took place in Mesopotamia, the region between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers.

The Mongol empire was huge and an outstanding empire. But it was an empire running out of time. In 1368, the Ming dynasty gained enough power to overthrow the Mongols. So in 1368 Chinese dominance resumed and the Ming dynasty re-established Chinese rule in much of what we now see as the Chinese mainland.
