You CAN attach a suppressor to an AK47. However, it will be MUCH louder than you think. A suppressor (proper term for silencer) REDUCES the noise generated by gasses leaving the muzzle. However, bullets that travel faster than the speed of sound (as most rifle bullets do) create a loud CRACK as the bullet breaks the sound barrier. A suppressor does nothing for THAT sound.

Please note- in the US, suppressors/ silencers are regulated by Federal law, much the same as machine guns. Possession of an unregistered suppressor- even a homemade one that involves duct tape- in punished by 10 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.
