when Columbus reached a land, the Indians he found paid him with kindness but he didn't return it. he took them captured, sold them as slaves, and made them hunt and give him all the gold he could find. If the didn't have enough to satisfy him, they were sent to death. oh yeah he was mean, and cruel. that's why people are debating celebrating Columbus day.
