Most likely not by himself. But he did help convince the French to aid the American cause. He appealed to the French by wearing a fur hat and amused ladies of the court. His popularity bought Louis XVI into bankrolling the revolution. After a French flotilla came to the rescue, the British army under Clinton left Philadelphia and went on the defensive. Clinton retreated to New York City in 1778 out of fear. Washington followed close by resulting in The Battle of Monmouth. Most of the British remained in New York while Cornwallis went on a fruitless campaign in the South. The Revolutionary War was nominally over when Cornwallis was trapped by the French fleet.
