He put the national government on his farm and created Washington D.C. He put it next to Georgetown University which his brother founded and near a lot of property he owned. Our forefathers were driven by money rather than patriotism. So I would say that he was in favor of a strong national government because it would make him money. After he and George Washington left office, they got in cahoots together with a scheme to link the east with the west with a "Potomac Canal". Another way for him and the "father of our country" to get rich quick.
