By the time he committed suicide on April 30, 1945, Germany was badly losing the war- in fact, Soviet troops were in the middle of capturing Berlin, the capital city. At the time, Hitler was hiding in a fortified bunker complex underneath the city. The writing was on the wall- he knew that Germany was about to lose the war.

About a week later when the new president, Karl Dönitz, surrendered, he only really controlled the small town of Flensburg, which on the German border with Denmark. Almost the entire rest of the country was under Allied occupation.

So technically, yes, Germany lost the war after Hitler's death- but it was already pretty much over by the time he died.
