For the royal family, in those days, every day was "work". Most court functions were used by both nobles and the royal family as networking opportunities, for political and/or personal gain. Henry would have meetings with his advisors, or his treasurers, army generals, etc. during the course of the day, at court functions and even while journeying to and from different residences.
