At least not Spain: that's why they sent the Spanish Armada.

Queen Elizabeth I of England was the monarch in 1588, when the armada was defeated. King Phillip II of Spain sent the armada in an attempt to invade England. Although Elizabeth was the monarch at the time, It was sir Francis drake who led the english, and The duke of Medina Sedonia led the armarda.
They protect the coast of england. They were the main reason why the British defeated the Spanish Armada. One of them was Sir Frances Drake
The overall command was by Lord Howard of Effingham (1st Earl of Nottingham), but the vice admiral of the British Fleet was the famous Sir Francis Drake.
The Spanish Armada was defeated by an English fleet commanded by Charles Howard the 1st Earl of Nottingham on August 8, 1588 in the Battle of Gravelines.
Elizabeth 1st got involved in the Spanish invading Britanin 1588. The spanish had a convoy of boats known as the Armarda. But they lost because Sir Francis Drake deafeated them. Spain then sailed around scottland to get away but the gails made the ships brake up. The armada was defeated. Philip II (ruler of Spain) blambed it on the weather.
1. luck- when the armada were on their way back, the wind was wrong so they had to go all around Britain. they lost a lot of ships. 2. bad leadership- the proper leader died, and they found a new one, who was good onland, but suffered from sea sickness! 3. the English ships were more manoeuvrable, and faster. 4. the English had better cannons. they could fire every 10 mins, but the spanish ones took 1 hour.
