No! Booth was delivering smuggled medicine to General Stonewall Jackson. Jackson was so impressed with Booth that he spoke highly of him to Jefferson Davis. On May 2, 1863, Jefferson Davis summoned Booth for a secret meeting. At the meeting Davis offered Booth $50,000 in gold to capture Abraham Lincoln and exchange him for the Confederate prisoners of war held by the North. He also offered Booth another $50,000 in gold to begin a new life afterward. Booth accepted.

In March 1864, Abraham Lincoln gave Col. Ulrich Dahlgren the job to kill Jefferson Davis. Dahlgren failed and he was killed.
