John Holliday, born in Griffin, Georgia, 14 August 1851. His mother died of tuberculosis ("TB") and Holliday suffered from TB for most of his life. He studied at dental school and worked as a dentist in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Dallas, Texas, to make his fortune as a gambler. He unfortunately developed a drink problem accompanied by a bad temper. After various shootouts where he killed his opponents, he moved to Denver. Eventually he went to Dodge City (1878) where he befriended Wyatt Earp. Then in 1880 he moved to Dodge City, linking up with Wyatt Earp again. It was here where the famous Gunfight At The OK Corral occurred (October 1881). After many more adventures, John "Doc" Holliday died of tuberculosis on 8 November 1887.

However, Earp did co-author a memoir titled "Wyatt Earp: Frontier Marshal," which was published in 1931, long after both men's deaths. The book recounted Earp's life and experiences, including his friendship with Holliday, but it was not dedicated solely to him.
