No, it was anything but an easy fight. Entire platoons were destroyed and many killed. The battle raged for weeks before it was entirely in American hands. I know one man who was on a ridge line with his platoon. Artillery shells landed on him and there was no one between him and the last guy in his outfit still alive. It lasted from February 19 to March 26 in 1945
