Certainly the New Zealanders were in Crete, Australians I cannot say. Answer Large numbers of Australians fought in the Greek campaign, and later on Crete (where Allied forces initially evacuated to).

New Zealand soldiers fought in North Africa, Italy, and on the island of Crete. After Pearl Harbor the Australians left North Africa to fight the Japanese, but the New Zealanders remained in the Mediterranean Theater.
