Maybe Thomas Jefferson who was a reader of john Locke and other thinkers, but since they were several hundred years in the past they did not figure into the scheme of things and just like today they existed in the past. I haven't heard anyone state recently that they need to go look up something in the magna carta.

the magna carta
The Magna Carta, signed in 1215, significantly influenced American colonists in the 1770s by establishing the principle that everyone, including the monarchy, is subject to the law. It inspired colonists to demand greater political rights and protections against arbitrary government actions. The document's emphasis on due process and individual liberties helped shape the colonial mindset, ultimately contributing to their desire for independence and the formulation of foundational American legal principles.
The Magna Carta influenced the colonial government by causing them to make rules in favor of rights for the people and restrictions of government power. Many ideas from the Magna Carta were incorporated in the Constitution.
