WHY did it? The Proclamation of 1763 was a line drawn by Britain located just west of the 13 Colonies . American Colonists were not supposed to move west of the line. This was done to prevent conflict between American Colonists and Native Americans on the frontier. However, many American Colonists had fought with Britain against the French in the recent French & Indian War and felt that this earned them the right to move unto what had previously been French land and had been acquired when Britain won the war. Also, the Colonial population was growing rapidly--they needed to move Westward and many just ignored the Proclamation Line WHY did it?
