In the past, they painted in caves to show what they needed, or what they hoped for. They mainly painted before a hunt, to 'show' their gods what, as I already wrote, they hoped that would happen. The pictures that were found were mainly about people killing animals, their hand-prints or paintings of themselves.

People painted in caves to leave a story behind and they used it as a a record. They had to use berries and other things to use as paint because they did not have paper and writing utensils it was the only way to leave behind a story.
