He also was a firm advocate of the Enlightenment. Edwards actually never went to Harvard. He enrolled at Yale in 1716 and graduated in 1720. He was also the President of the College of New Jersey (currently Princeton University) but was only in office for one month before he died of a small pox innoculation.
