Blarney Castle, located in Ireland, is primarily a tourist attraction and does not serve as a residence for anyone. The castle is famous for the Blarney Stone, which visitors kiss for good luck. While the grounds and the castle are well-preserved and maintained, they are not inhabited. The estate is managed by the Blarney Castle and Gardens organization, which oversees its preservation and public access.
They would live in their lord's castle.
The traditional McCarthy Lands are in Cork and stretch into Kerry. There were three main clans (in English the McCarthy Mor the McCarthy Beag and not sure about the other). The biggest seats of McCarthy power were Blarney Castle just north of cork city and a north cork village think it was kanturk. After the English came Irish nobility generally stayed simply by promising loyalty to the English crown. The McCarthys were among these and theres actually a local story whereby Elizabeth used to demand this and that from them but they always had some sort of excuse and talked there way out of it. Elizabeth remarked that they talked a load of blarney and so added the word 'blarney' to the English language.
