The hydrosphere is the water portion of earth. It consists of lakes, seas, oceans, rivers, and all other bodies of water. The hydrosphere isn't even close to 1,000 km deep, although it seems like this to us. Water is a liquid, and in the nature of liquids is affected by everything around it. Oceans can be affected by the moon's gravitational pull and causes spring and neap tides to occur.
