The Great Wall of China was built from the 3rd century B.C.E to the 17th century AD, in order to prevent the Mongols from entering and invading China.

Although I will admit that it was destroyed and had to be rebuilt many times.

Much of what still exists of the Great Wall of China was built during the Ming Dynasty, mostly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Its construction occurred over hundreds of years, some sections of the wall being built as early as the 7th century BC, but very little of the ancient work remains.
