HBO's Rome, although consisting of excellent acting, was fiction. It was historical garbage and depicted historical facts only when it couldn't be helped. Mr. Shakespeare's tragedy of Julius Caesar, was also fiction, but he worked with and around historical facts in a manner that was plausible, at least for his time.

Shakespeare knew that the Roman statesman and commander Julius Caesar suffered from the 'falling sickness'. In Act I, Scene ii of his tragedy Julius Caesar, Casca describes how Caesar 'swooned and fell down...' and a few verses later says: 'He fell down in the market place, and foamed at the mouth, and was speechless.' He had epilepsy

Titus Pullo was a Roman centurion of the 11th Legion (Legio XI Claudia). He was mentioned very briefly by Julius Caesar in his Commentaries of the Gallic Wars. He became a main character in the HBO series Rome, probably because he was an actual historical figure. However, nothing is known about him except the couple of lines from Caesar.
Caesar had numerous enemies throughout his life. His main rivals were political and brought about his ultimate demise. Julius Caesar's desire to rule Rome and the empire of, led to many Roman political rivals who believed in the power of Democracy and the Republic. Caesar spent many years fighting in Gaul and in Egypt. The political rival mainly associated with bringing about Caesar's ultimate demise was Brutus. Although many politicians from the city of Rome were connected to the stabbing of Caesar, Brutus is considered the mastermind of the operation. For a possibly easier to understand, more entertaining version of the story, check out HBO's mini series Rome. I would make sure to read a history book first or in conjunction with the series so the true history is known and separable from the story and script of Rome. The series does serve as an accurate portrayal of history, when studied in conjunction with the written history.
