In Britain there is no definition as to what size a village can be. It may be defined as a group of people linked by blood or land used privetely or communally. There are many variations relating to polulation, but as a rough guide it has been suggested that a village contains between 5 and 30 families. This would make a village larger than a hamlet, but smaller than a town where a town requires more occupations (agricultural and industrial) to support the population
