You do not need a degree in Library Science to volunteer in a library. A person with a Library Science degree, which is a graduate degree, is paid for his/her skills and doesn't need to volunteer to enter the field. That said, if you want to volunteer, call around to various schools, especially private schools, about volunteering in their libraries. That's the best way to learn about the profession. You must earn a four-year college degree in order to apply for graduate school in library science.
