He was well aware of how effective he was in galvanizing support for his atrocities and planned elaborate systems for maintaining the bureaucracy that drove it. He also spent a lot of time and effort in developing the ideology that would drive this hatred. Hitler was not a machine, but a man and a very passionate one who freely chose to commit one of the greatest atrocities in history.
