Nothing.She didn't make the flag. This is a story her grandson made up in 1870. Congress gives credit to Francis Hopkinson who designed the flag. The first flag was made for the navy in 1776 and it was a basic British flag with stripes. The second flag had stars where the British flag had a cross.

i hate too break too many peoples bubble,but the only thing ms. ross was known for was sewing the new nations flag.here is were the bubble gets broken,ms.ross did not sew any flag for this nation,high school history is not really all that good,history starts in college.after ms.ross death in 1836 in philadelphia,her relatives decided to make some money off of her name,they started the story of the flag and since people were willing to pay money too tour her home.good gig if it worked.it worked far better than anyone though of, remember this happened not even a 100 years after the war,so we were still proud of these people as well as we should be even today.a little white lie does not hurt 200 years later. she at one point in time helped sew flags,and buttons,clothes,etc.leave it at that.
