The reason that Germany did not invade England during World War II is that Hitler could not decide upon an invasion plan. Although he was a brilliant strategist in land campaigns, he could not come up with an invasion plan that he felt comfortable with. The German military was quite capable of taking over England in 1940 right after the fall of Dunkirk, but Hitler would not give the go ahead. Instead, he agreed to let Goering try to bomb England into submission.

Could Britain have stopped World War 2?

A very good question- but with no certain answer. The actions by Britain's government may have encouraged continued aggressive actions by Adolph Hitler, rather than discouraging it. When Britain attempted to aid the French, they were pushed out of France, and came close to losing the military forces in France. After that the British were busy trying to keep Germany from invading Britain. It is possible that are more direct early opposition to Germany might have at least delayed fighting, but in my opinion, it would not have indefinitely prevented the war.

Was the American revolution England's Vietnam?

No, because the colonists were protecting a country, while Britain was trying to keep its colonies. There was guerrilla warfare in both wars, but they were fought in different terrain. It should be kept in mind that Britain (in this case) was not an invading or occupying force imposing its will on conquered subjects; the colonists themselves had British origins and forefathers, and the war was to break away from the father country and become self-governing.
