It was a very insulting anti-Christian set of books. Celsus also wrote similar books with poor, ignorant arguments. Julian's arguments are very well stated, but he is open to all and likely possibilities. It is believed that because Julian was so insulting of Christianity he was killed by Saint Mercurius. Symmmachus and Saint Ambrose had a similar debate.
