How did King Tutankhamun king at the age of 9?

King tuts father died when tut was around 8 yrs old. Then the eldest brother of the royal family became king. The people of Egypt hated their new king because he only wanted to believe in one god, the god of the sun. The king got rid of all the temples that were dedicated to other gods. But this king soon died and tut became king around the age of 9.

If these lengths of rule are correct, Tut was around 5 or 6 when his father died and his two immediate predecessors were more or less regents ruling in his place until Tut was old enough to become the official pharaoh with his own regent being the defacto ruler until he got a little older. Like most nations of the time, Egypt tended to prefer male rulers unless they had a particularly forceful woman on the throne.
