jakashia- yes Baton rouge did have another name before the french it was called Istrouma. i know this because i live in BR and they make us learn this stuff. lol especially if you got to istrouma high school or istrouma baptist church

Cajuns and Coonasses are the most common nicknames that are granted to Louisiana peoples. Creoles are another common nickname that is commonly used however this is not true. Creoles refer to the mix of the original hispanic populace and their slaves to the later combination of French immigrants.
