Mark Antony contributed very little to society except by helping to repopulate the empire with his (at lest) ten legitimate children. He was a distant relative of Julius Caesar and because of the Roman family bonds was allowed to move up the political ladder on Caesar's toga tails. He did a fairly decent job of restoring order once he came out of hiding after Caesar's murder, but when things began to get sticky, he fell apart and was even declared a public enemy. He is many times hyped up as a great general, but he only won one battle in his entire life and that was at Phillippi. Despite his shortcomings, however, he was well liked by his troops. Although an aristocrat, he fraternised with the common soldiers in his various commands and was like a bridge between the elite and the poor.
