This is a basic answer, but Napoleon's incursions in Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia, and Egypt were seen as interference to the existing order of the world, especially by Great Britain which perceived him as a very severe threat. It is evident that Napoleon believed only in brute force; that might made right. He excelled in military matters, but he failed at diplomacy, and he alienated many people who otherwise would have sided with him, eventually leading to his waterloo.

He was at first exiled to the island of Elba but eventually escaped and returned to France where he tried to retake his empire and was defeated at the battle of Waterloo. He then died in exile.
