There is no historical evidence to suggest that Socrates was blind. He was known for his intellectual contributions in philosophy and his interactions with other thinkers in ancient Athens.

Socrates was a stone mason, soldier, politician and philosopher from Athens in the 5th Century BCE. Aristotle was a philosopher and scientist from Stagira (northern Greece) in the 4th Century BCE. They were all Greeks.
This happened with several people who have remained famous only through what others have told us about their work. The most famous probably are Hippocrates (he of the doctors' oath) and Socrates.
