The U.S. changed in so many different ways for one Abraham Lincoln became president and after his elections South Carolina broke away from the country and many others did to. They feared that their rights to own slaves might be taken away. The new president thought that they had no right to do that and he wanted to end slavery. Then the Civil War broke out. By the end of the war the north won and the south reunited with the north. Slavery was abolished for all states. The south had terrible turn outs they had no one to run the plantations they owned. Some of the plantation owners swollwed their pride and hired former slaves and paid them very little the others well just gave up and found a different field. The U.S had a dramatic decrease of cotton and other goods.
