Many conditions in France affected ordinary citizens in many ways. The shortage of bread caused many to go hungry and poor, the estates system of government gave most of the power to only 3% of citizens. This caused many taxes on the poor leading to economic problems. Stories of the revolution in America lead to more and more ideas of a revolution in France to free themselves of the monarchy and form a new government.This led ordinary citizens hungry, poor, and gave them few rights and next to no power in government even thought they made up 93% of the entire population of France.
