How did the Aztecs kill people?

The Mayan civilization used to sacrifice live humans in order to appease their gods. It is said that they would remove the still-beating heart from a person, remove the person's head, and then throw their body into a pit.

In battle, Aztec warriors were trained not to kill anyone, but simply to wound them so they could be taken prisoner.

One successful tactic was for the front rank of the Aztec army to be composed of elite warriors armed with a shield and the maquahuitl (a kind of heavy hardwood sword or club set with obsidian blades along each edge). Behind them would be less experienced troops armed with long spears (tepoztopilli). The front rank warriors engaged the enemy, keeping them occupied, and the men behind would try to stab the enemy in the leg or arm at the same time. Once injured, the enemy would be dragged back through the Aztec ranks and tied up.

The whole process was designed to provide a constant supply of victims for ritual sacrifice at temple complexes later, when a high-ranking enemy might be forced to fight with mock weapons against four elite Aztec warriors until he was worn down, then sacrificed. The usual method of sacrifice was to have the heart cut out with an obsidian blade, then the entire skin was removed, the head cut off and both skin and head put on public display.

the Aztec used people for arrow practice because they are MOVING targets. they said " if you run and make it to the corn feild ( other side of arrow practic place ) then you are free. but they always gang up on one person. at the end of the place they had 1 or two people to kill them if they were about to make it.

they often killed babies and young children to the water god because the cry, ( crying=water)
