How did the Ming Dynasty govern China?

At first, the Ming administration had only one Department, the Secretariat, that controlled the Six Ministries. In 1380, the Hongwu Emperor abolished the Secretariat, the Censorate, and the Chief Military Commission and took personal charge of the Six Ministries and the regional Five Military Commissions. Like the Yuan dynasty, the Ming took over administration of the 13 provinces based on the Yuan division. Later, after the Jurcheon invasion, 4 semi autonomous commands were established. The provinces comprised of 3 bureaucratic divisions, civil, military and surveillance. Within the provinces were prefectures run by a prefect, within which were subprefectures under a subprefect. County was the lowest unit run by a magistrate.

The government (social structure) of the Shang Dynasty was made up of different classes:

King- lived a life of luxury and was the highest ranking person in the community

Nobles- provided soldiers for the king and in return the king allowed them to rule as they wished

They were also given valuable jade disks from the king as gifts

Craftspeople- Made swords for the armies from bronze and carved taoties (animal mask) out of bronze.

Traders- usually traded goods, but cowrie shells were sometimes used for money because they were rare

Farmers- made up the largest class and gave most of their crops to nobles or the king, but kept some to feed their families

Slaves- were usually captives from other places forced to build tombs and palaces for the king. They were also frequently sacrificed so that the king would have them in the afterlife.
