Both. However, it was never really an Axis-power, despite the fact that it maintained basically an 'I will help you' pact with the Axis-powers. It later went to the allies' side when Hitler betrayed and invaded the USSR.
Both the US & USSR begin with letters US. Both the US & USSR used a star on all of their war machines (Ships, Tanks, Aircraft, Trucks, Artillery, etc.). Both the US & USSR extended from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. Both the US & USSR had sub-states within it. Both the US & USSR had minority populations of people & cultures. Both the US & USSR had fairly matched technologies. Both the US & USSR were spawned from revolutions (1776) & (1917) respectively. Both the US & USSR had frontier expansions: The US went West; the USSR went East.
The Warsaw Pact. Although the USSR had been a valued member of the Allies in World War II, after the war the USSR was determined to expand its territory in Europe and Communist influence throughout the world. The "Cold War" began, an antagonism between the other three major Allies, Great Britain, France and the United States on one side and the USSR on the other, that never came to actual military conflict, though both sides prepared for the possibility. The three Allies and other Western European democracies formed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1949, pledging collective defense in response to an attack on any member by any external party. Largely in response to the incorporation of the Federal Republic of Germany (generally known as West Germany) into NATO's mutual defense pact in 1954, the USSR formed its own mutual defense organization, the Warsaw Pact, in 1955. In addition to the USSR, the founding members were East Germany, Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania. All of the members were Communist countries, and the governments of the smaller countries were controlled in whole or in part by the USSR. The Warsaw Pact enabled the Communist countries to stand collectively against NATO; specifically it allowed the USSR to maintain a protective buffer zone of satellite countries between it and the NATO countries. The USSR had suffered devastating losses when invaded during World Wars I and II during the previous four decades and was resolved to protect itself against any further invasions. After several defections, the Warsaw Pact was formally disbanded in 1991 after the Cold War ended.

No 'bilateral type of allies'. Both Bulgaria and Germany are members of the NATO. That is their ally
they r both allies and fellow NATO and G7 members

Yes, the US is allies with both Greece and Turkey through their membership in NATO. However, there have been periods of tension and disagreements between the US and both countries over various geopolitical issues.
The two battles involved overwhelming the defenders . These two battle were alike in that both produced high casualties and the defenders were both members of the Axis who were defeated by members of the Allies .

The US and Russia are both large, powerful, and influential countries that have nuclear arsenals, and that are permanent members of the UN Security Council; both nations were allies during both WW I and WW II, who helped defeat Germany and its allies twice (although Russia did pull out of WW I before its conclusion).

The Nazi's were part of the Axis in World War II, which also included Japan. Even though Japan and the Nazi's (Germany) were attempting to take over the world together, they both had different ideas on what to do from then. The people who fought the Axis were the Allies, which consisted of America, the UK, and USSR. Poland and France were also major allies, but defeated in 1940 and in Operation Torch in 1942.
