The only time it really effects people is when the North start shelling one of the islands or just the other side of the DMZ. Other than that it doesn't really effect people too much.
Douglas MacArthur was relieved of commanding in Korea, he was not necessarily fired but he did choose to retire eventually. It did allow the morale of the military in Korea to rise some when a new commander was put into place. The soldiers did not want to be there and wanted to go home and were not well trained or experienced. The people in the USA had begun to want their people out of Korea. McArthur's departure from Korea did not affect the world as much as it did the soldiers in Korea and the Korean people.

The division of North and South Korea was the 38th Parallel before the war, during the war, and after the war.

South Korea
Korea was divided into two political bodies in 1945, following the end of World War II. The peninsula was split along the 38th parallel, with the Soviet Union administering the north and the United States administering the south. This division solidified into two separate states in 1948, leading to the establishment of North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) and South Korea (Republic of Korea). The division has since resulted in ongoing political and military tensions between the two countries.
The Era of Division in Korean history, often referred to as the "Korean War Era," primarily spanned from 1945, when Korea was liberated from Japanese occupation, until 1953, when the Korean War ended with an armistice. This period marked the division of Korea into two separate states: North Korea and South Korea. The division was formalized in 1948 with the establishment of separate governments in each region. Tensions during this era laid the groundwork for ongoing conflict and division that persists today.
The result of the actions shown on the map of Korea led to the division of Korea into North and South Korea at the 38th parallel, with the North controlled by the Soviet Union and the South controlled by the United States. This division eventually led to the Korean War in 1950.
After World War II, American forces occupied the southern part of the Korean peninsula. Soviet forces occupied the northern part, which was closer to Russia. The northern part of Korea adopted communism beliefs and became the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). The southern part of Korea became the capitalist Republic of Korea (South Korea).
