Well the Nazi's killed and stole everything they could from the Jews. So once the got back to their homes, most of their homes had already been looted and destroyed. So they had nothing. A lot of people were Anti-Semitic, besides the Nazi's. So not to many people had pity on them.

Jewish refugees and many survivors of the Holocaust sought their own homeland and returned to Palestine. They formed the country of Israel in 1948 and have fought opposition from the Arab countries ever since.
The British White Paper of 1939, effectively banning all Jewish migration to the Mandate of Palestine, was still in effect after the Holocaust. It was not until the State of Israel was established that ships bringing Holocaust survivors to the area were legally permitted. However, during the Jewish-Arab Engagement of 1947-1949, the Israeli government lost control of the Old City and Jordan forcibly evicted all of the Jewish residents of the Old City. It would not be until 1967 and the Israeli reunification of the city that Holocaust survivors would be able to go to the Old City of Jerusalem.
In 1947, the United Nations established a home for Holocaust survivors in the region of displaced persons camps in Europe, particularly in Germany. This initiative aimed to provide refuge and support for Jewish survivors after World War II, as many were left homeless and stateless. The establishment of these homes was part of broader efforts to address the humanitarian crisis following the war.
