Daniel Boone moved west primarily in search of new opportunities and land for settlement. In the 1760s, he explored the region that would become Kentucky, drawn by its rich resources and fertile land. His expeditions and pioneering spirit helped open the frontier for future settlers, making him a key figure in American westward expansion. Boone's adventures contributed to the idea of manifest destiny and the American belief in the exploration and settlement of the West.
Multiple events sparked the movement of US citizens West. First and foremost was the Gold Rush of American history. The second was Federal Legislation that promoted travel West in exchange for monetary goods and land. And finally, the general American spirit of pioneering and travel.
Hugh Glass moved west in search of adventure and opportunity during the early 19th century, a time when the American frontier was expanding. He sought to escape his past and embrace the promise of the wilderness, drawn by the fur trade and the potential for exploration. Glass’s journey was emblematic of the rugged individualism and pioneering spirit that characterized many who ventured into the western territories. His experiences ultimately became legendary, particularly after his harrowing ordeal following a bear attack.
He passed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 which helped America expand into the west.
