After WWI, European life in itself had changed greatly due to the devastation, loss, and change in governments. However, the change in society was greatly influenced by art. Expressionism was a significant contributor to this new form of art. These artists would portray the horrors of war by painting or drawing disfigured people who were hurt in the war, or families mourning their loved ones. The most famous is Picasso's Guernica, which exhibits many disfigured creatures that are either in mourning or hurt by the continuing violence from the war. I think that this is the most interesting form of art that appeared in the years following World War I because it mainly appeared in Germany, where the war initially started, and pursued despite all the oppositions. In fact, Expressionism convinced many people by the start of World War II that war was devastating. Art really impacted society and the way they thought about life, and it's really interesting to see how much of a role art played in life.
